How To Fake It With A Fae by Amy Boyles

This couple has so much in common. Although at times I wanted to slap them. No joining or spell can make you feel the way these two felt when they first met! And why Feylin got so mad that he had to destroy Addie's family business kills me. How could he not tell she was devastated too? All I have to say is thank God for magic. Addie is a witch born to a very powerful family except she has no magic. That's right, none. She never felt like she fit in the magic world. When she's old enough she moves to Nashville & leaves the magical world. Her family run a magical bookstore that I would spend all my money in. You see their magic allows you to go into a book. Something a lot of readers would die to experience! Addie thinks of herself as a human because she can't do magic. Unfortunately, she can't marry a human because they are afraid of witches. And any wizard she dates only dates her because of her families power. She gets used a lot! In fact, it happens at the beginning of the book. Addie's only talent is being able to choose the right book for a person to read. So naturally she works at a human bookstore.

Feylin has had a rough life. He is the Fae King but he's half human. Naturally this causes a lot of the Fae to distrust him. They want him to marry & produce an heir. That way people will stop challenging his position. Feylin's only family is a ten year old cousin he is raising. He married his best friend but they were never romantic. And when an accident occurs at the magical bookstore that Addie's family owns kills his wife Feylin vows to get revenge. Feylin lives in the same town as Addie's family yet, most of the fae live behind the veil. Feylin lives in the castle because he is trying to convince the humans the Fae aren't a threat. He wants to establish trade with them. Feylin mourns the loss of his wife & vows never to love again until he runs into Addie. Which is a hilarious scene where she pukes on his shoes. When they touch everything they thought they knew about love is shattered. They are both stubborn & get angry easily so their banter is amazing.

Addie's grandma dies & she came home for a funeral. However, the families magic is fading. Unless they marry off all the seven daughters every member will lose it. No pressure, right? Addie has to attend a ball where every available suitor will try to decide if they want to marry her. Feylin sees this as the perfect opportunity to get revenge on her family. He has no idea Addie is part of that family. Things go South fast when her ex boyfriend shows up & tries to catch her sister's interest. She makes a big scene & he says so awful things. In order to rescue her from embarrassment Feylin agrees to marry her. He proposes they fake get engaged. Unfortunately, he utters a Fae joining when he announced the engagement. Now they have to stay within a certain amount of feet from each other or she will get pulled closer to him.

Addie has no idea who Feylin is to her family because no one tells her. Will she hate him after she starts to have feelings for him? And Feylin has no idea who is really responsible for his wife's death. When someone sabotaged Addie & Feylin's relationship will he go to far for revenge? Will he lose Addie & any chance at happiness he has in the future?
