A perfect happily ever after to a good series. There are a lot of close calls when Spencer decides to do the unthinkable and pretend to be interested in her mate. It was the only thing she could think of doing that would keep her friends & family safe. She had thought this through really well though. She had conditions for him. Once he agreed to them she could breathe a little. Of course, she had so much to figure out. Mainly how to get to the relics without getting caught. The hardest would be how to figure out what the combination to the safe is. I must say she had good ideas about it. In the end she was so far off base. The first night there she meets Ashley, a sweet girl who was basically treated like a slave. Eric made her cook for him & do his cleaning. Did I mention she also had to run the bar? She was getting paid but if the alphas son asked you to do anything you couldn't refuse as a female. They are treated like slaves. And poor Ashley had been rejected by her mate because he was an alpha heir. She was too low ranked in the pack. Ashley offers Spencer a room over the bar. The become fast friends especially when Ashley shares that she is a seer. She couldn't even tell other wolves that because that was magic to them. Unfortunately, Spencer has to use magic a few times before running for her life. And the alphas can tell when magic is used. Lets just say Eric decides he's been patient enough & he wants his mate. I can't fault her for using magic! Personally knowing her temper I'm surprised she was able to not lose her cool & give anything away. After two attempts on the safe Spencer is really lucky when Eric comes to find her in the study. I love his brain because he still believed it wasn't possible to be a female hybrid. Then why were they going to all this trouble to hide these relics? Thankfully Ashley fled with her because she hit a wolf over the head that Spencer didn't see. Marcus gets his memories restored. He gets what he deserves in the end. Wait till you read what a great ending happens for Clare. I do kind of feel bad for Eric in the end. He really did care for his mate. Even after he found out that she was the female Alpha. He was worried his dad would kill her or worse make Eric kill her. I'm not going to lie I wish there had been another book that had a longer chase. It seemed like that part was way too short. However, I love a good HEA.
